An impressive 2400m3 concrete was for the new Base Building (1600m above sea level) at the Remarkables Ski Field. Over 150m3 was coloured concrete for the decks.

It’s time to choose your colours.

There are a couple of things you need to keep in mind. Colours look different on every screen you view them on, so order some actual samples before making your final decision. Something else to remember is that because concrete is a natural material with natural variations, the concrete laid in your space probably won’t match the sample exactly.

The use of different sealers will impact on the final colour, as you’ll see from the swatches we supply.

The most common consideration is how easy the floor is to clean and how safe and non-slip your exterior surface is.

Smooth Trowel

Standard internal finish for residential floors to generate a smooth concrete surface.

Light Trowel

Smooth finish for residential floors with trowel marks visible on the surface.

Medium Trowel

Textured finish for external residential concrete surfaces, ideal for patios and pool surrounds.

Rough Trowel

Pebble profile is clear but not heavy. Very textured finish for external residential concrete surfaces, ideal for driveways and paths.

Light Broom

Very textured finish for external residential concrete surfaces, ideal for driveways and paths.

Heavy Broom

Very rough textured finish for external surfaces with significant slope or areas where non-slip required.

Natural Polish

Generates a very smooth surface with no aggregate visible.

Here’s where you can choose the style of cuts you want in your concrete to avoid the risk of cracking.

Construction Cuts are essential in controlling concrete cracking. Talk to your contractor about where the construction cuts will be positioned.

Add Decorative Cuts to add even more visual interest to your coloured concrete flooring.

This technique is required for concrete floors to control the cracking so it occurs at the cuts.

Square pattern cuts applied in addition to construction cuts for aesthetic purposes.

Not Applicable

Generally, no cuts are needed in concrete walls, however please be aware however that for cast in-situ walls, you’ll need to include expansive joints to allow for movement. We recommend that you discuss this with your engineer.

Sealing or polishing the concrete surface makes it easy to clean, maintain and prolongs the life of your concrete. The sealer you choose has an impact on the final look and feel, it also provides the finishing touch to your space.
